Misha Nodelman
Biography
Misha Nodelman is a distinguished violinist who joined the Russian musical elite at an early age. His masterful violin playing and profound musicality make each of his performances unforgettable. Currently, he is the first concertmaster of the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen and has been an assistant to Prof. Zakhar Bron in Cologne since 2006.
Born in 1977 in St. Petersburg to a musical family, Nodelman’s exceptional talent became evident early on. Following his victory at the Young Talents Competition in St. Petersburg, he received top-tier training at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, studying under Prof. Ovcharek. During this period, he won the violin competition of the Gartow Foundation and placed in the Munich Concert Association’s competition with the Modus Quartet. He also performed with the chamber orchestra Saint Petersburg Camerata, led by Saulius Sondeckies.
His career then took him to Cologne to study with renowned violin teacher Zakhar Bron. During his studies, he won the Liana Issakadze Violin Competition, received first prize at the Eurasia-2 Violin Competition, and became a scholarship holder of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, completing his training with a concert exam.
As concertmaster of the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen and leader of the Nodelman Quartet, Nodelman is highly regarded both as a soloist and chamber musician. The Nodelman Quartet is celebrated in Germany for its expressive interpretations of classical repertoire and its commitment to peace projects, such as the multimedia “Threnody for the Victims of Ukraine” and the artistic project “Klingende Stolpersteine.”
Since the winter semester of 2022/23, Misha Nodelman has served as a violin lecturer at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf.
