About Naum Grubert
Born in Riga in 1951, Naum Grubert studied with the legendary Professor Vera Gornostaeva in Moscow. He won Second Prize at the International Piano Competition in Montreal (1977) and was a prize-winner at the Tchaikovsky Competition (1978). His career took him on extensive tours across the Soviet Union and Europe before he emigrated and became a Dutch resident.
As a soloist, he has performed with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Concertgebouw Orchestra, Cologne Philharmonic, Tonkünstler Orchestra Vienna, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Helsinki Philharmonic, and Kirov Orchestra St. Petersburg. He has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Evgeny Svetlanov, Thomas Sanderling, Paavo Berglund, and many more. His discography includes works by Schubert, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, and Schumann.
Besides his concert career, Naum Grubert is a highly respected professor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where he has trained numerous prizewinners of national and international competitions.
